Through heat and drought, the hikers soldiered on through Island Ford. The group was on time and after we made the introductions, Joyce spirited us away,  only to be stopped by Steve Fix!  Joyce had forgotten to take the group picture!!  So prior to our warmup hill, we stopped, regrouped, Joyce got her photo and took off.  Today we did the lollipop trail and  enjoyed the last bits of Fall color.  The trail remains dusty due to the lack of rain so those of us in the rear had to take in some extra fluids. We ended up at the pond and stopped for a couple of minutes to look at the numerous turtles enjoying the sun.  After the hike, about 10 hikers regrouped at North River Tavern for a well derserved lunch. ~ Carol
