The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the boardwalk was just yesterday, so we were the first AOC hikers to celebrate the new walkway. What a well-built structure it is - - most impressive. And the synthetic floor boards allow for traction during wet weather (which was great, since we had some of that this morning).

Yes, we had a light drizzle for part of the hike, and the skies were dark and gray - - but we kept a steady pace and finished the 4.2 miles right at 11 am. I was really surprised and pleased that so many folks stayed on the hike. What's a little rain among friends, after all?

Everyone in our group seemed to enjoy walking on the .7 mile walkway, as did many other visitors who were jogging, walking their dogs, and stretching their legs. For sure, the Riverwalk Boardwalk will get substantial use over the years. ~ Joyce
