Write Up:

We started about an hour early due to the threat of rain. We made the distance from the parking lot to the Lenn Foote Inn in under 2 hours and 20 minutes. As it turned out there was no need to rush. It did not start raining until five. That turned out to be the least of our problems. About a week and a half ago the Inn was hit by Lighting. Fortunately, it did not cause a fire. Unfortunately, it damaged the electrical system to the Inn. The rain two days earlier revealed further damage that had not initially been caught. They thought they had that fixed. Tuesday night they lost power again, the Electrician was able to restore enough power to light our rooms, the bath house lit, partial lighting to the mess hall, power to the kitchen, and a few other areas. He was not able to the waste recycling system back up, the power outlets to our rooms, lights to the activity room, and several other areas. We were informed about three that they would have to secure power to the whole Inn Wednesday morning to properly diagnose the problem and fix it. We would need to checkout the next morning. We are getting a refund for one day.

Although our stay was half as long as planned (1 day instead of 2 days), and we did not get our optional Springer Mountain hike in as planned. We did get to see a beautiful Blue Moon Wednesday night and a magnificent sunrise Thursday morning.
