Write Up:
Great hiking overcast weather for this group of 11 AOC members that started on Cochran Shoals, ascending on a secondary trail past the old grave yard (from the 1800's), continuing to the Sope creek. We stoped several times to regroup and passed the Sibley pond, just before the Paper Mill parking lot, taking a trail to the old flour mill. We stayed there for a few minutes enjoying the view and taking photos, to continue on the inner secondary trails to reach the Sope creek and view the Paper Mill Ruins. Some of us saw a large blue heron flying over the creek as we approached. Then we bordered the apartments to return on the initial secondary trail back to the parking lot where we started. Angela Nelson gracefuly assisted sweeping at the back, completing the 4.5 mi. hike in just under 3 hrs.
