Susan F. greeted us in the parking lot to wish us farewell as she begins her vacation in Peru. (Safe travels, Susan!) We saw an active wasp nest, but made it by unscathed in both directions.  We encountered a putrid smell, and eventually saw vultures off the trail devouring a dead buck. It was another of those hot, muggy days, but we covered 5.5 miles before our celebration lunch at the North River Tavern, where FOUR of the guys opted for the Triple Bypass Burger!  Allston suggested carrying a defribrillator on our next Thursday hike . . .    ~ Joyce
