Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Distance 13 miles.  Elevation gain just at 2500 (per Mark Reffett) Pace - slower on the uphill; overall including breaks around 2.0 mph.

There will be some creek crossings (hopefully only involving rock hops).  Be prepared.

We will hike Section 1 of the Benton MacKaye (BMT) as a loop hike.  We will start from the Springer Mountain parking lot, hike to Springer Mountain, backtrack slightly and turn on the Benton MacKaye trail, hike down to Three Forks crossing the AT a few times, continue along the AT to Long Creek Falls From Three Forks and then return to the parking lot via the AT.  Overall distance about 13 miles with an elevation gain of around 1900 feet.
