Itinerary:

Come join us at Cochran Shoals. The Cochran Shoals trails have a few moderate climbs in our route, but nothing too strenuous.

We'll cover sections of Interstate North and Columns Drive at the Cochran Shoals unit of CRNRA.

BTW check out our easy jog event right before this hike at the same location. Yeah! We get 2 birds at 1 stone!

We’ll meet and start from the Interstate North parking lot. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the starting time for getting a parking (not very easy on weekend), restroom, and introduction.

We’ll follow the river going north-east to Columns Drive entry, and then loop around to take the inland trail going south-west until we reach the junction before a bridge. From there, we’ll take the narrow Columns Drive Trail into the woods going north to its north end. We’ll take a short break before turning around going south to get out of the woods, then back to our starting point.

Restrooms are available at the parking lots of Interstate North and Columns Drive. Otherwise there are many trees and bushes along the way if you have to go.

Daily Parking fee is $5 cash, or display your annual pass. You can buy a daily parking pass at the parking lot as needed.

Annual pass is a great way to motivate oneself to keep coming back and enjoy all of the National Recreation Area parks and national parks throughout the USA. It is more convenient and very cost effective.
