Itinerary:
Leap year comes around once every four years, so we're going to do four hikes in one day as a homage to Leap Year 2012. There are fifteen miles of trails at Red Top Mountain State Park and we're going to do them all in three separate hikes with a BONUS hike occuring at Vineyard Mountain Trail afterwards to make four hikes. A good portion of the hikes follow the shores of Lake Allatoona, so there will be plenty of awesome scenery and many photo opportunities. Three hikes are moderate distances; one is combined with a picnic lunch. Sign up for as many or as few as you would like. Hikes 1 and 2 will leave from and return to the Visitor's Center. This allows flexibility if you don't want to do all of them. For example, if you only want to do hike #2, you meet us at the Visitor's Center at the start time for that hike. Hike 3 leaves from a separate parking area (as noted in the write up). Hike 4 leaves from a separate venue.

Hike #3 will be on the Iron Hill Trail. It's a fairly flat 4 mile trail. This will leave from the Iron Hill Trail parking lot (not the Visitor's Center, but just down the street) and is the blue trail on the map below. The hike will leave from and return to the Iron Hill Trail Parking lot.

You can view a trail map here: http://www.redtopmountainstatepark.org/resources/red-top-mountain-state-park-trail-map.pdf

If you don't have a Georgia State Park Pass, there is a $5.00 per car fee but the pass is good for the entire day anywhere on the mountain. If you have not joined us for the first two hikes, you can purchase a pass at the Iron Hill Parking lot, just be sure to bring exact change because it is the honor system/envelope type.

Please call the trip leader if you are running late. We won't wait so you'll have to catch up with the group if you do arrive late.
