Located on the western edge of Lookout Mountain, this is one of the most scenic parks in the state, offering rugged geology and beautiful vistas. The park straddles a deep gorge cut into the mountain by Sitton Gulch Creek, and elevation differs from 800 to 1,980 feet. The most spectacular view into the canyon is found near the picnic area parking lot; however, additional views can be found along the rim trail. We will be camping in the walk in camp area which has a bathroom and showers. We will use two or three sites depending on group make up. Each site allows a maximum of two tents and 6 people. The cost is $12 per camp site so less than $5 each so bring cash.

Bring dinner for Tuesday night, breakfast for Wednesday and lunch/trail snack for Wednesday. There are several senic hiking trails to choose from on Wednesday including some with waterfalls. Of special interest; the Park supervisor wans us to take photos for her contest. she needs them for making postcards and is offering a $280 prize package for the best one and is doing this for all 4 seasons. BRING YOUR CAMERA. We will head back to Atlanta Wednesday afternoon and may have a group dinner on the way.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $71.04 (calculated at total miles (192) * $0.370, effective Wednesday, September 08, 2010). This is based on the current gas, maintenance, and other costs of $0.370 per mile as stated by the IRS & Cars.com. This should be divided by the total number of people in the vehicle (incl driver).
For example: With 4 people in the vehicle, the expense per person on this trip would be $17.76 Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.
