Itinerary:

Please make sure you are in good physical condition and don't have issues with elevation changes while carrying day packs. We'll be hiking at a moderate pace and the total distance is approximately 12 ½ miles.

I am inviting you to join us on a day hike to the Big Frog Wilderness. Though there are no waterfalls or river crossings, if the day is clear, then we'll see some awesome mountain views from the ridges and the top of Big Frog Mtn.

Big Frog Mountain sits at 4224 ft. in elevation, which is our lunch destination. We’ll begin our 6 mile gradual uphill climb at the Licklog Ridge Trailhead (1740 ft elevation). After a short 1.5 mile hike on the Licklog Ridge trail, we'll cut over on the Rough Creek trail which will be a descent to Rough Creek. It's a fairly shallow crossing and is shallow enough to rock hop across without bringing water shoes, but of course hiking poles are always a plus for balance. Here, you'll have the opportunity to filter water if you choose to do so.  We will continue the Rough Creek Trail, connect to the Fork Ridge Trail until we hit the Big Frog Trail. From here we will travel the rest of the climb to the peak of Big Frog.  Unfortunately, no scenic views here, but we will be on top! After lunch, we can head the remaining 6.5 miles back to the trail head along the Licklog Ridge Trail.  Total distance is around 12.5 "ish" miles.

Depending on Weather, we get some great views along the ridge trails so have your camera ready.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $66.60 (calculated at total miles (180) * $0.370, effective Wednesday, September 08, 2010). This is based on the current gas, maintenance, and other costs of $0.370 per mile as stated by the IRS & Cars.com. This should be divided by the total number of people in the vehicle (incl driver).
For example: With 4 people in the vehicle, the expense per person on this trip would be $16.65 Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.
