Strange Roots--a tale of burned stumps and birches on stilts, with great views from the ridges.

We had a great 2 day tour of the Mt Albert- Standing Indian Loop, with a modification from the circuit route.  Our first day, 14 miles from the bottom of Timber Ridge trail took us up to the AT through new blackberry growth (ouch!), over Mt. Albert and cruised back to Standing Indian Campgroud.  Evidence of the fire from 3 years ago was also evident with dead rhododendrons, grass growing in, and charred stumps.  View were opened nicely!

The next day, instead of shuttling our car to the trail end, we did a 10 mile loop from SIC, up the beautiful Kimsey Creek to Standing Indian, then down the ridge to the campground, through three shaded saddles.  Campground was very nice with spaced apart sites, showers and good trailheads and parking. Nice family site with shallow tubing in the creek.
