Sat, Jan 16 2021 - Developmental Kennesaw Mountain (View Original Event Details)
|
The forecast the first Development Hike was for temperatures in the mid-30s at the beginning and the high 30s at the end of the hike. That it was with the addition of high winds and intermittent snow. After introductions and a picture at the Visitor Center, we started up Mountain Drive arriving at the top parking lot doing a 2.65 mph pace with a quick break for pictures we came down at a 2.70 mph pace. From here we proceeded to the 24 Gun Trail and Environmental Trails to Gibbs Road and back at a pace of 2.80 mph pace with a quick stop to get our pictures next to a cannon. Once it started snowing, we desperately looked for a pair of tweezers so that we could build a microscopic snowman from the falling snow. Unfortunately, no one had a pair or tweezers. Overall, despite the cold, wind, and a few snowflakes all had a great time hiking.
