Write Up:We had 2 newbies and members from beginners to advanced today who don’t usually attend
the same events. That was nice! Volunteer Cathy Vogel spoke to us about the history of the
cemetery and some of the people who are buried there. The cemetery, near downtown
Decatur, is used as a park with runners, dog walkers, and bird watchers, and has beautiful
trees and plants. And of course, people pay respects to their deceased relatives. Volunteers
had placed American flags on the graves of veterans in honor of Veterans Day. Lynn O was
able to locate the graves of her great-great grandmother, great-grandparents and great aunt
that she had never seen before. Joyce’s album is posted to the right. Thank you Joyce. And I
hope you are able use the link below to see a photograph I took a few days ago of a mini-
waterfall on a wooded path alongside the cemetery that we walked on today.
