The woods were beautiful. I had forgotten how soft the tread on this stretch of trail is, which makes for really pleasant walking, unless, of course, your toes are hurting. Ah, well, there is always something. But we had interesting conversation. We did not bushwhack to the overlook, hence, according to the map, we hiked 10.8 miles on the trail plus . 4 miles between the trailhead and the parking area for a total of 11.2 miles. Bill's GPS registered 11.8 miles, but he must have been running back and forth to extend the hike when we weren't looking.
