Itinerary:

It's rare that we schedule an easy hike at Island Ford, so if you've wanted to see this beautiful park but didn't care for a workout hike, now's the time to do it.  We'll stick to the flat trail along the river, avoiding the strenuous hills and difficult terrain of some of the inner trails.  We'll enjoy the stroll, stopping to admire the beautiful Chattahoochee River and watching for geese and other water fowl as they come in to roost for the night.

Wear comfortable walking shoes, a bandana to wipe a sweaty brow, and a bottle of water.  It will be short and sweet!

We'll meet at the Visitor Center parking lot, which is about a mile from the entrance gate.  Just keep driving past the first parking lot (on the left), the second parking lot, and the pond.  You'll eventually come to a dead end at the larger Visitor Center lot.  Please note that this building closes at 5 pm, so restrooms will not be available.

If you bring a dog, it must be kept on leash.  This is for the protection of your pet as well as the safety of others.  Additionally, it's the law!  The reputation of the AOC is at stake when our members break the leash law and allow their dogs to run free.  If your dog doesn't like to be restrained, please do not bring it.  We'll allow up to three dogs on this hike, so if three dogs are already registered, you may not add yours.

Since this is one of the Chattahoochee National Recreation Areas (CNRA), a $3 parking fee is required for all vehicles.  These can be purchased from the kiosk close to the Visitor Center entrance.  Be sure to have the correct amount, as there are no attendants and no way to get change.
