Itinerary: | |||||||
Kennesaw Mountain was designated as a National Battlefield on February 8, 1917, and it is 1,808 feet above sea level. An elevation of approximately 660 feet is gained in the one-mile hike to the top of Kennesaw Mountain, and the park offers over 18 miles of maintained interpretive trails. Be sure to grab a brochure at the visitor center. Come join us as we climb up and over Kennesaw Mountain, Little Kennesaw Mountain, and Pigeon Hilll and return back the same way. It is a six- mile, strenuous hike at a moderate pace with only one or two rest breaks; therefore, you should be in good physical condition to attempt this hike. We will meet outside of the visitor center for sign-in. Please allow time to find a parking space and to walk up to the visitor center, as the main parking lot may be full. **Thanks to Danny Llewallyn for the map and directions listed below.
