Itinerary:

Kennesaw Mountain was designated as a National Battlefield on February 8, 1917, and it is 1,808 feet above sea level.  An elevation of approximately 660 feet is gained in the one-mile hike to the top of Kennesaw Mountain, and the park offers over 18 miles of maintained interpretive trails.  Be sure to grab a brochure at the visitor center.

Come join us as we climb up and over Kennesaw Mountain, Little Kennesaw Mountain, and Pigeon Hilll and return back the same way.  It is a six- mile, strenuous hike at a moderate pace with only one or two rest breaks; therefore, you should be in good physical condition to attempt this hike.

We will meet outside of the visitor center for sign-in.  Please allow time to find a parking space and to walk up to the visitor center, as the main parking lot may be full.

**Thanks to Danny Llewallyn for the map and directions listed below.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

1) I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector

2) If you are not heading west after getting off of the Interstate you are going the wrong way.  You should be heading towards US 41 and downtown Marietta after getting off of I-75 onto the Canton Road Connector and see Kennesaw Mountain on your right.

3) You will be tempted to take the first exit off of the Canton Road Connector which is US 41, but do not take it.  Proceed over US 41 on a bridge staying on the Canton Road Connector.

4) After crossing US 41 take a right at the first redlight which is Church Street Extenson.

5) You should cross railroad tracks soon.

6) Take a left onto Old 41 at the second redlight.  If you get to US 41 again, you have missed the turn onto Old 41 so turn around.

7) Stay on Old US 41 until you pass in front of the mountain.  Take a left at the red-light onto Stilesboro Road and then a left into the visitor's center parking lot.

8) If the parking lot is full (which is probable):  Go back to Old 41 and take a left.  Drive until you come to another left, which is a new overflow parking lot for Kennesaw Mountain.

Notes:

Please arrive early enough to park in the overflow lot, which is a 5 to 10 minute walk away (see (8) in the directions section above).
