Itinerary:

We will start out with a steep bushwhack up to the ridge. Once on the ridge, we will follow horse trails passing a rock face that is most beautiful in the winter when covered with ice, and loop around towards the northern shoulder of Eagle Mountain. A narrow path will lead us back up to the ridge, which we will follow all the way up to the top. There we will take a break on some rocks with a view.

On the return, we can retrace our steps, make an additional excursion heading north for a view of the Tusquitee Mountains, or bushwhack down along the creek. We will try to avoid bramble patches but please be prepared for the occasional brush.

This is a strenuous hike, and you should have D5/D6 experience. The mileage is estimated, and will depend on our route. The hike will be cancelled if bad weather is the forecast.

Dogs are welcome, but should be on leash at all times as we will be hiking in a wilderness area. Snakes and bears will be asleep, but we may encounter wild pigs.
