Itinerary:

Please join me for an afternoon hike at Island Ford.  I konw I am posting very late but I didn't think I had time for Saturday hike but I managed to clear a few hours - if you are free please join me!!!!!!!

We will cover approx. five miles in two hours. The pace will be moderate with a couple very short water breaks.  The Island Ford trails have a few moderate climbs, but nothing too strenuous

Hike will begin from the second (middle) parking lot (see directions below). We will hike along the banks of the Chattahoochee River, then head towards and complete the Lollipop loop and then cool down along the riverside trail and then back to our cars.

Weather is cooler but Water is still a must.  

Bathrooms are available at the  visitor's center - follow Island Ford Parkway to the end - you can also purchase annual parking pass there if you don't already have one.  Please arrive early enough to give yourself time to get to the middle parking lot by 3:20 - we will have short introductions and then begin hike promptly at 3:30 (sorry, we cannot wait for latecomers) 

There is a $3.00 daily parking fee (CASH) at Island Ford unless you have the annual pass.  If you need to purchase a day parking pass you can do so at the kiosk at the visitor's center at the end of Island Ford Parkway - then return to the second parking lot to meet the group.  Annual passes can be purchased at the visitor center.

There have been vehicle break-ins - please leave all valuables at home

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

1906 Island Ford Pkwy, Sandy Springs, GA

From northbound US 19 and GA 400
- Take exit #6 (Northridge Road).
- Coming off the exit, stay in the right lane, cross over GA 400, and turn right onto Dunwoody Place.
- Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
- Turn right and proceed 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right.

From southbound US 19 and GA 400
- Take exit #6 (Northridge Road)
- Continue straight ahead at the traffic light onto Dunwoody Place.
- Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
- Turn right and proceed 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right.

 

Once you enter the main gate, drive down the road about .6 miles until you see the parking lot on the left - this will be our meeting spot.  If you see a pond on your right you have just passed the middle parking lot.  If you need to purchase a day parking pass continue straight to the kiosk near the visitor center parking lot and purchase your pass for $3.00.  Arrive early to allow yourself time to purchase your parking pass and return to the middle parking lot.
