Itinerary: | |||||||
Please note: To add to distance, we will hike Island Ford loop section twice and Sandy Spring lollipop once. Island Ford is one of the nicest hikes along the Chattahoochee, it also was one of my favorit local place to hike before I joined AOC. We will hike 7.5 to 8 miles on several trails down to the river and back again. There will be a few hills, but nothing too strenuous. We will cover most of trails including the Sandy Springs lollipop trail adjacent to Roberts Road down to the river Canoe ramp area and back. Please note: We will be hiking moderate to fast between 2.75 to 3 MPH. We will meet at the first parking lot to the left at begining of the park. If you do not have an annual CRNRA parking pass, you will need to purchase the $3 daily parking pass at the pay station in the parking lot. You may also purchase an annual pass for $35.00 on line or at the Park visitor center. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to take care of this.
