Itinerary:

Calling all you Atlanta Outdoor Club enthusiasts and football fans!  "Rise Up!" and join us for any or all of this festive "AOC Super Bowl combo" at The Grove, a cozy friendly sports bar here in NE metro Atlanta.  As worked well for the Falcons' recent NFC Championship victory game we expect to fit comfortably around two long tables in the semi-private room that juts out from the front of the restaurant.

Please try to arrive by 4:30 PM to help us hold seating space for our AOC "subgroup" since The Grove doesn't allow formal reservations.  As an informal pre-game icebreaker (before the 6:30 PM Super Bowl kickoff) Stacey and I will host a ~5:00 - 6:00 "AOC Q&A Brainstorming Session"  We'll address everyone's questions about the Club and everyone will be encouraged to comment constructively about current and past AOC outings, clinics, socials, etc, and discuss our personal "wish lists" for future Atlanta Outdoor Club events.  It's likely that we can hold space for members who have to arrive a bit late but as the restaurant becomes more crowded for the game we may have to forfeit any of our empty chairs or stools to other customers.

For the Falcons' recent NFC Championship game with the Packers we dozen or so AOCers had a ball together at The Grove.  Those of us who arrived early staked out the ample group space mentioned above while enjoying a productive roundtable-style discussion of tips for hikers & backpackers. Then we whooped & hollered and high-fived everyone in the bar as Matt Ryan and wide receiver Julio Jones spearheaded Atlanta's crushing 44-21 victory.  We're esp. proud of Matt for his outstanding QB performance and team leadership this season and his well-deserved "Most Valuable NFL Player" award from the Pro Football Writers of America.

In this 51st annual Super Bowl our Falcons are given an excellent chance to beat the New England Patriots and win their first ever Vince Lombardi trophy.  Our only other Super Bowl appearance was in 1999's loss to the Denver Broncos. This big game on Feb 5th will be played in Houston's "NRG Stadium" with opening kickoff at ~6:35 PM eastern time and broadcast here locally by Fox 5 Atlanta.  The Grove restaurant will show the game of course on their numerous big screens and it likely will wrap up by about 9:30 or 10:00.  Fox will also air a couple of late afternoon NFL programs that should be entertaining.  Even if you're just lightly infected with Falcons Fever you're sure to enjoy this festive "combo event" including our pre-game AOC roundtable discussion!  Go you Dirty Birds!!!
