This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Sweetwater Creek Park - We will start at the visitors center and hike various trails (white, red, yellow, orange, brown, blue) for about a 10 mile hike. Estimated time about 3 1/2 hours though may be under/over. 

 

We will hike at a steady moderate pace with a few water/snack breaks.  THere is some elevation at Sweetwater but we will take any uphills slow - there is one extended killer incline on the yellow trail  - it isn't very steep but it did seem to go on forever.   We will be hiking at a moderate pace - not super fast, not slow but a bit slower than my normal pace. 

 

$5.00 fee for parking pass unless you have an annual GA State Parks pass

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Take I-20 west to exit 44 (Thornton Road). Make a left on Thornton Road (South) and then a right onto Blairs Bridge Road. Travel 2.1 miles to Mount Vernon Road and make a left. Drive about one mile to the park entrance and make a left on Factory Shoals Road. Drive about half a mile to the parking lot near the visitor's center.
