Itinerary:

 Please Join me for a great views from top of Blood Mountain. We will start our hike from the Lake Winfield Scott parking lot at 11 AM sharp toward Jarrard Gap. From there, we will hike on the Applachian Trail to Blood Mountain, where we take break and have lunch, We then return on the Slaughter Creek trail to Lake Winfield Scott.

Lake Winfield Scott was completed in 1942 by the Civilian Conservation Corps.  The lake and all of it’s buildings, roads and structures are the work of the Corps and remains intact today.  

Overall, the hike will be around 8 miles with some strenuous climbing at a moderate pace.  Approximate elevation gain for this hike is 2,000 ft.

We will stop at all of the major turns/crossroads to keep the group together and take necessary water breaks.

We expect approximately 4.5 - 5.hours of hiking.

For those that are meeting at the event we will start our hike at 11 AM Sharp.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Take GA 400 North to its end (Home Depot, Waffle House) At Traffic Light take the left on US 19 toward Dahlonega Take the US 19 Bypass right at the bottom of the hill coming into Dahlonega.

Continue on US 19 untill you reach GA 60 and take a left (toward Suches ) After about 7 miles you will take right onto GA 180.

Lake Winfield Scott will be in Approxim 5 Miles.
