Itinerary:

Please come and enjoy the trails on and around Red Top Mountain - we will hike approx. 13 miles on the Sweet Gum Trail, Homestead Trail, White Tail Trail and  the Iron Hill Trail.  13 miles - 5 hours is approximate - may be over/under on time and mileage - not a fast paced hike - approx. 2 1/2 mph

This locale was requested by AOC member Christa who would love to explore Red Top and I am more than happy to oblige.

Meet at Red Top Mtn State Park & Lodge (Park Office).  At 8:30 our hike will start and we will hike out of the parking lot by starting on the Sweetgum Trail which will connect with the Homestead Trail.  The White Tail Trail is a very short trail but has some beautiful views of Lake Allatoona.  We will then hike down the campground trail and around the Iron Hill Trail loop.(there may be bicycle traffic on the Iron Hill Trail but trail is wide and plenty of room for both hikers and bikers)

These trails have some elevation but I take hills slow and easy. We will hike at a moderate pace and take a few very brief water breaks and one slighty extended break (about 15 min) at around noon for a quick lunch/snack somewhere along the trail.

NOT A FAST HIKE - not quite leisurely either - a nice, comfortable pace

D4 rating due to the mileage (not speed or elevation) if you can go the distance you can do this hike!!!
