We hope you can join our Atlanta Outdoor Club volunteer "subgroup" for about 3 hours this Saturday morning for a "give-back-to-our parks" work session in this beautiful DeKalb County park. Our objective will be to help beautify and improve the forest by working with other volunteers to remove invasive vegetation, planting flowers & shrubs, ensuring proper trail drainage, spreading mulch, etc. We'll check in with our friendly hosts at 9:30 AM on the porch of the old farmhouse beside the free parking area. No previous experience is necessary and tools, loaner work gloves and expert supervision will be provided. The forecast expects bright blue skies and temperatures warming to almost 50 degrees by lunchtime.. FEEL FREE to JOIN "FRIENDS of BRIARLAKE FOREST." Briarlake Forest's 20+ acres of shady old homestead property boasts numerous gigantic Oaks and Beeches, some thought to be perhaps 200 years old. The park's extensive network of hiking trails have been built since 2012 by our neighborhood volunteers and continue to be maintained by our "Friends" group - click the links below for details. We encourage interested AOC members to pitch in with us as your time permits on our scheduled monthly "work days." We can easily arrange to have you added to our email roster.
