Itinerary:

Please join us for a Sunday morning fitness hike at Island Ford. The Island Ford trails have a few moderate climbs, but nothing too strenuous.

We will cover approx. 6 miles in about 2 hours. The pace will be fast with a minimum number of very short breaks for water and photos. This is a fitness hike, we will not slow down the group to wait for anyone who can not keep up the pace, and we don't want to push anyone beyond his/her limits either. So please only register if you are comfortable with a fast pace for this event.

We will meet and start the hike promptly at 9:00 a.m. from the visitor center. Sorry, we will not wait for latecomers. Please arrive a few minutes early before our starting time. We will begin our hike along the river, and continue to the very far end of the trail. We will return by following the same route with a few slightly different sections to get back to our starting point.

NOTE: Daily Parking fee has increased - it is $5.00 CASH or display your annual pass.

Water is a must.

Bathrooms are available at the visitor center. Otherwise there are many trees and bushes along the way if you have to go.

If you need to purchase a day parking pass you can do so at the kiosk as you enter the visitor center parking lot. Annual passes can be purchased at the visitor center for $40. Lifetime passes are available to seniors over 62. Annual pass can also be used for all of the national parks in USA.

Anuual pass is a great way to motivate oneself to keep coming back and enjoy all of the National Recreation Area parks and national parks throughout the USA. It is more convenient and very cost effective.

There have been vehicle break-ins - please leave all valuables at home.
