Itinerary:

Come join us for an (almost) double dose of Kennesaw Mountain!

We'll start at the visitor's center, go over big Kennesaw, little Kennesaw, Pigeon Hill and down to Burnt Hickory Rd, take a water break then head back over the mountain to the visitor's center for another water break.  Then we'll go back over Big and Little Kennesaw to the 2.0 mile marker, turn around and head back over the mountain to the visitor's center.  There is about 2700 ft of elevation gain on this hike which makes it (along with the 10 miles) a beginning D5 hike.

If you're not sure you can make the 10 miles, but want to try it - this is an OK event as long as you understand the following:

1. If you don't cover the whole 10 in 4 hours, you'll be removed from the event - BUT THERE IS NO SHAME IN TRYING - so don't let this stop you.  Your trip leaders have to leave at 1:00pm - so no way to verify you after that.

2. You may not have someone with you all the time during the hike, but it's nearly impossible to get lost once you've completed the route over the mountain the first time.  I will be checking in with everyone as we pass on the mountain and you can ALWAYS sit and take a break on a few benches along the way.

There are water fountains available at the vistor's center and at Burnt Hickory Rd.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

1) I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector

2) If you are not heading west after getting off of the Interstate you are going the wrong way.  You should be heading towards US 41 and downtown Marietta after getting off of I-75 onto the Canton Road Connector and see Kennesaw Mountain on your right.

3) You will be tempted to take the first exit off of the Canton Road Connector which is US 41, but do not take it.  Proceed over US 41 on a bridge staying on the Canton Road Connector.

4) After crossing US 41 take a right at the first redlight which is Church Street Extension.

5) You should cross railroad tracks soon.

6) Take a left onto Old 41 at the second redlight.  If you get to US 41 again, you have missed the turn onto Old 41 so turn around.

7) Stay on Old US 41 until you pass in front of the mountain then turn left at the redlight and park in the main visitor center lot if you can.  If full head back out to Old 41, take a left and park in the overflow parking lot farther down the road on the left.

Meet prior to our start time at the cannon outside the main entrance of the visitor's center or just inside the lobby.  Call the trip leader if you are running late, but please note that we won't wait on you.  You will have to try and catch up with the group if you arrive late.
