Itinerary:

This is a long weekend event at Devil's Fork State Park on pristine Lake Jocassee in the Northwest corner of South Carolina about 2.5 hrs. from Atlanta. Together we will decide which options to do. Cost for whitewater rafting on Chattooga River and kayak rental on Lake Jacoassee would be extra.  

Weekend Options:

  • Whitewater rafting Chattooga River (Sat.)
  • Hiking Chattooga River Trail (Sat.)  8 to 10 mi. 
  • Hiking to lower White Water Falls (Sun.) 4.2 mi. in and out
  • Canoeing, kayaking, Lake Jocassee (Sun.)

 

Camping space has been reserved to accomodate participants for 7 (one or two person) tents for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.  (if you don't have a tent, others have more than one (like me...in other words don't worry about it.) There are bathrooms with showers conveniently located in the campground.  Also, a cabin is reserved for access to a kitchen and great room for Friday and Satureday nights.  We will have a cookout Saturday night.

  • Head northeast on Dryden Rd 0.2 mi
  • Turn left onto North Point Pkwy 0.2 mi
  • Turn right onto Windward Pkwy 3.3 mi
  • Turn right onto McGinnis Ferry Rd Pass by Pep Boys Auto Service & Tire (on the left in 5.8 mi) 8.0 mi
  • Continue onto McGinnis Ferry Rd 2.4 mi
  • Turn left onto Northolt Pkwy 0.6 mi
  • Turn right onto Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd 0.4 mi
  • Turn left to merge onto GA-403 N/I-85 N 0.3 mi
  • Merge onto GA-403 N/I-85 N 1.0 mi Keep right at the fork to continue on I-85 N,
  • follow signs for Greenville Entering South Carolina 66.5 mi
  • Take exit 1 for SC-11 0.5 mi
  • Turn left onto SC-11 N Pass by Dollar General (on the right in 23.7 mi) 34.2 mi
  • Turn left onto Jocassee Lake Rd 3.6 mi
  • Continue onto Francis Falls Dr 305 ft Continue onto Jocassee Lake Rd 427 ft
  • Turn right onto Holcombe Cir 144 ft Devil's Fork State Park, 161 Holcombe Cir, Salem, SC 29676

As soon as registration closes, Trip Leader will send a request for payment through PayPal.  Payment is due upon receipt.  

COST INCLUDES:

Camping Space for 3 nights

Food for weekend (Fri. D, Sat. B,L,D, Sun. B,L,D) All meals to be prepared in cabin kitchen, group groceries will be purchased, food available for sack lunches to be made by each participant.

Participant Cancellation: Full refund (less AOC $10.00 fee) is available only if a suitable substitute is able to take your place up to two days before event.  Otherwise no refund is available.
