Itinerary: | |||||||
PLEASE NOTE THE PARKING LOT - - WHITEWATER CREEK (Not the Indian Trail lot) East Palisades is one of the most rugged of all the Chattahoochee Parks and we will traverse many habitats, from creek bottom to cliff top, hillside to bamboo thicket, and the overlook deck at a steady pace, with some optional rock scrambling for views. We'll move along relatively briskly, and enjoy the views of the river and the trails. We will be doing some strenuous hills, and regroup to catch our breath. We will sneak through the bamboo forest, and get a look at the N end of the park. This is NOT a hike for beginners, and will be a strenuous D2 route, with about 700' ascent and descent. This will be a rain or shine event, with cancellation for heavy rain or thunderstorm predicitions. We will leave promptly at 10 am. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to get settled and for introductions. There is a $5 parking fee unless you have an annual pass. There are no restrooms available. Map, terrain and vegetation reading will be encouraged, and instructed for those interested along the trail. There will be a contest for who can identify the most twisted grape vine, or most luxurious trillium in its favorite habitat, which is....??? | |||||||
