Itinerary:

Welcome to a Kennesaw Mountain hike for those that want to do the Kennesaw Mountain D4 at a slow pace. I had several members tell me that they wanted to do the trail up Kennesaw Mountain and even the 6.2-mile round trip, however they needed it to be slow. This is a hike those of you that want to do this hike. It is scheduled to last 3.5 hours. An Advanced Warning – It May Last a Little Longer. We will go at a leisurely pace keeping the group together. This is a leisurely hike for beginners; however, it is Kennesaw Mountain and is a D4. Those wanting a fast hike, this is not for you.

 

That said the plan for this hike is: We will meet at the Burnt Hickory Parking Lot at 8:00 am. There are no restrooms at this parking lot. After introductions we head up than down Little Kennesaw. Up than down (Big) Kennesaw stopping for a break at the Visitor Center with restrooms. As soon as everyone is ready, we will head back to the Burnt Hickory Parking Lot reversing the route we came from.

Pigeon Hill Parking Lot (Old Mountain Rd. and Burnt Hickory Road)

NOTE: Parking lot is small. Allow for extra time to circle around for parking space.

Drive from Atlanta on I 75 to Exit 269. At the bottom of the ramp turn left on Barrett Parkway and proceed approximately 4.5 miles. Turn left on Burnt Hickory Rd and proceed approximately 1.4 miles. Parking lot will be on the right.

 Alternate Directions from Downtown Marietta: Hwy 120 (Dallas Hwy) from downtown Marietta thru traffic light, right on Burnt Hickory, parking lot 1.5 miles down on left.
