Itinerary:

Join us for a leisurely hike around the beautiful and rugged trails at Gold Branch, one of many parks along the 48 miles of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA).

When I (Susan) joined the AOC, I discovered we put a lot of miles on local trails.  To give back, I became an active CRNRA volunteer and recently became liaison between the two organizations.  Most trail work is done by volunteers so the parks need our help to protect and maintain them.  Initially, I'll focus on awareness and will discuss different volunteer activities and opportunities.  On the trails, I'll point out challenges and will introduce our new Adopt-A-Park program.  Please bring a small plastic bag to collect trash along the way.

The trails at Gold Branch are rugged with lots of rocks and roots.  Hiking poles are helpful.

There is a $5 parking fee unless you have an annual pass.  If paying in cash, please bring exact change.

We'll meet at the far end of the Gold Branch parking lot near the trailhead, and will leave promptly at 10:30 AM.  Please arrive 10 minutes early for introductions.

There are NO restrooms at this location, so plan accordingly.

Gold Branch is located on Lower Roswell Road between Johnson Ferry Road and Willeo Road.  If you are coming from Johnson Ferry Road, it's about 2 miles from Johnson Ferry on the right.  If coming via Willeo Road it's also about 2 miles on the left.  There is a Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area sign on Lower Roswell and the parking lot is at the bottom of the hill.
