Itinerary:

Join us for a leisurely hike around the beautiful trails at Island Ford, one of many parks along the 48 miles of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA).

When I (Susan) joined the AOC, I discovered we put a lot of miles on local trails.  To give back, I became an active CRNRA volunteer and recently became liaison between the two organizations.  Most trail work is done by volunteers so the parks need our help to protect and maintain them.  Initially, I'll focus on awareness and will discuss different volunteer activities and opportunities.  On the trails, I'll point out challenges and will introduce our new Adopt-A-Park program.  Please bring a small plastic bag to collect trash along the way.

Sections of Island Ford are rugged with rocks and roots.  Hiking poles are helpful.

There is a $5 parking fee unless you have an annual pass.  Passes can be purchased at the Visitor Center.

We'll meet in lower parking lot near the Visitor Center and will start promptly at 10:00 AM.  Please arrive 10 minutes early for introductions.

There are restrooms at this location (allow extra time to use them).
