Itinerary: | |||||||
We will hike the two trails in the Songbird Habitat which sits on the site of the former 1996 Summer Olympic Games venue for Archery and Cycling. PLEASE NOTE: It is getting dark earlier now, so we will leave at 6PM sharp in order to finish the hike before it gets dark. We will also maintain close to a 2.5 to 3.0 speed for the same reason.
| |||||||
How to Get There: | |||||||
Event Directions: | We will meet at the "Caboose" - this is on the main drag of Stone Mountain Village on the left just past the police station and just past the railroad tracks. Look for our black Subaru. This is a free park area with an excellent path into the park. Let's meet there at 5:45 PM to start the hike at 6 PM sharp! From I-285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel about 7 miles and take Exit 5 (Memorial Drive/Stone Mtn Village, GA 10). Proceed 0.5 miles to the first exit. At the end of the ramp turn left. Stay on this road as it winds into the village, go past the police station (on the right), over the railroad tracks, and make the very next left into the parking lot.
Notes: | |||||||
I will email all event participants about the status of the hike in case there is a chance of severe weather. * We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.
