Itinerary:

Please join me for a hike at Cochran Shoals and Powers Island.

Hike will be approximately 7 1/2 miles and just about 3 hours - we will first hike the trails of Powers Island (including the actual island trail) and then walk on the sidewalk at Interstate North Parkway for a very short distance and then pick up the trails on the other side of the river at Cochran Shoals.   

D3 becuase of distance (not for elevation or difficulty) - the loop on Powers Island (the Island trail) is a little tricky (roots, rocks, uneven terrian, overgrown).  The Powers Island trail (non-island trail) has a nice hill but otherwise a fairly flat route

$5.00 parking fee at the CRNRA parks - pass can be purchased at Kiosk in parking lot for $5.00 (with your Smart phone and a scanning app) or if you already have the annual pass just display in your vehicle. or go online to  https://www.nps.gov/chat/planyourvisit/fees.htm

How to Get There:

We will meet in the Powers Island parking lot - Riveredge Lane NW, Sandy Spring 30328

(CRNRA states on their website that the address is  5450 Interstate North Parkway, Sandy Spring, GA, 30328 BUT I Googled the Riveredge Lane address and I think that is more accurate)

From 400 North or South - take 285 West - take exit 22 for NEW Northside Drive, at first light take a right (one way road) to continue on Northside Drive.  Continue straight and the road will change names to Interstate North Parkway (DO NOT get on Northside Drive NW)  take Interstate North Parkway about two miles and make a right on Riveredge Lane NW (just before you cross the river).  Don't pass it because you would have to completely loop around 285 and New Northside again - please give yourself additional driving time.
