Sunday Morning at Island Ford

Join me for a hike at Island Ford. We will park at the first parking lot (enter through park entrance gate and make immediate left into parking lot). We will first do the Lollipop Loop (about 3 miles). Then head towards the trail along banks of Chattahooche, head towards visitor center, quick loop around pond and then back to our cars. There is a bit of elevation, not much.   Just under 6 miles.

Trip Leader requests that everyone abide by recommendations for social distancing.  Masks optional.

Will be hiking at a moderate pace, not super fast but not a stroll either

$5.00 daily parking fee - best to purchase in advance.  you can purchase from Kiosk in parking lot by scanning a code that is provided, entering some data online including your credit card number.  Cash is not accepted.

AOC limit on this event is 10 hikers - ocassionally (if everybody logs in at once and registers at once) the system has a glitch and may allow more than 10 hikers on the event.  If this does happen I am obligated to keep to the 10 limit and remove the last ones that signed up.  I get notification of time you register and to be fair the first 10 are the only ones that I keep on the roster.  

There are no restrooms at this location - please plan accordingly.

From northbound US 19 and GA 400
- Take exit #6 (Northridge Road).
- Coming off the exit, stay in the right lane, cross over GA 400, and turn right onto Dunwoody Place.
- Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
- Turn right and proceed 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right.

From southbound US 19 and GA 400
- Take exit #6 (Northridge Road)
- Continue straight ahead at the traffic light onto Dunwoody Place.
- Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
- Turn right and proceed 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right.

Once you enter the main gate the parking lot is immediately on your left.
