Itinerary: | |||||||
Join me on this fabulous hike on the scenic Cumberland Plateau. This section of the Cumberland Trail was constructed over 35 years ago by Tennessee Division Forestry employees and is the oldest portion of the Cumberland Trail that has remained continually open. The Poplar Spring Section links the Signal & Edward Points Section of the Tennessee River Gorge Segment with the Mullens Cove Loop Trail in Prentice Cooper State Forest and Wildlife Management Area (WMA). If you have not been on this trail before, you will not believe your eyes! Stone doors, Rock houses, expansive river views, gorge walls and a long suspension bridge will highlight our 12.6 mile adventure on this iconic trail. We will be moving at the high side of moderate on this hike, expect to have some difficult terrain as the gorge area tends to be strewn with rocks and large bolders. Recent D5 experience is required to join in the fun, I reserve the right to move you to the waiting list if your experience does not have the necessary rigor.
