Bike Decatur to Piedmont Park

Meeting at the Decatur town square, we'll take an urban tour through scenic Oakhurst, Kirkwood, Reynoldstown, and Piedmont Park.  We'll go through the Krog Street Tunnel, up the Beltline, and take a break in Piedmont Park.  Then we'll head back down the beltline and exit at the Silver Rhino Head sculpture.  We'll cross North Highlands at Elizabeth St, head up Austin and Euclid to Little Five Points, bike east on Mclendon past Candler Park, finally east on Dekalb Avenue back to Decatur!  Much of this ride is through neighborhood streets which don't have a lot of traffic.... but (Warning) This is not a beginner biker ride.  There will be urban traffic! We cross a couple of busy intersections!  There will be beltline unpredictability! There are short but steep hills.  We may walk short sections... such as Krog Street Tunnel.  I will set a leisurly to moderate pace and we'll stop frequently to make sure we have everybody.  Popsicles and cold drinks are sometimes available at the Park Aquatic Center!

Meet at Decatur Town Square, next to the bandstand.  The square is behind the old courthouse, now called the Dekalb History Center, located at 101 E Court Square, Decatur, GA 30030.  Pay Parking available on nearby streets or parking structure...  there is some free parking several blocks away.
