Earth Day was a favorite day for Paula. She worked at Olde Rope Mill Park in Woodstock when she could. Please join us, in memory of Paula. Earth day is approaching!! It's a day to get outdoors whether it's hiking, biking, kayaking or participating in a volunteer event. My choice has always been to give back to the trails. If you feel the same, then please come join me for a land based river clean-up at Olde Rope Mill Park in Woodstock. We'll be joining forces with the Upper Etowah River Alliance. Olde Rope Mill Park is actually home to some amazing bike/hike trails. The park lies on the banks of Little River, which offers kayak/canoe opportunities and as well as a pathway to Toonigh falls, Blankets Creek and Lake Alltatoona. Woodstock is also my (Paula's) hometown. :-) So there you have it!!! I hold this area near and dear to my heart and I love helping to protect it's beauty. So if you join me, which I hope you do, we'll meet by the pavillion at Olde Rope Mill Park. We'll clean up the park by land. (If you want to bring a canoe/kayak, feel free, but I can't guarantee the water levels will be permitting this time of year) There's plenty of FREE parking. If you can't find parking down in bottom lots, there's a huge parking area across from Kia dealership that you pass on the way down to the park. It's not a far walk. This event is sponsored by the following organizations: You need only register on this site. Gloves and trash bags will be provided by the event sponsors, but if you prefer to bring your own gloves, please do so. Thick garden gloves or heavy work gloves work really well when you are collecting the bigger items such as tires. Bring your lunch and beverage - and join us - at the park! Facebook information: https://www.facebook.com/events/s/little-river-clean-up-paddle/654289665810759/ Please join AOC members for a picnic lunch (byo) onsite. Volunteering for environmental cleanups and trail maintenance activities are truly rewarding experiences and tons of fun at the same time, so I hope you can come out and join me.
