Itinerary:

Come explore Chastain Park. The area has seen a lot of improvements the past few years, with the PATH trail having been widened and extended and loads of invasive species removed.  

We will start at the gravel parking lot located between the NYO gym and golf course clubhouse - across from the Galloway School. We will loop the whole park, including a lesser know part of the trail that goes along "hamburger pond."

Parts of the route are paved, others not. There is one area of steps, a short narrow bit (no drop off though) and some gradual but long hills equaling a total elevation gain of 392 ft. Beginners with solid footing and experienced hikers welcome. 

Show up at least 15 minutes early to allow for parking, bathroom stops and introductions. The walk will start promptly at 9:45AM.

Our pace will be on the leisurely side of moderate.

Bathrooms are located in the gym next to the parking lot.

The gravel lot has free open parking, with extra space at the gym/ballfields next door and on-street parking is allowed as well.

Water and good walking shoes.

We will meet at the gravel parking lot located between the NYO gym and golf course clubhouse, and across from the Galloway School. The closest address is 140 Chastain Park Ave NW, Atl 30324  NOTE: For those somewhat familiar with the area, you may know the street name to be West Wieuca. It was renamed to Chastain Park Ave  last year! 


Notes:

Plan to arrive 15 minutes early for bathroom runs, parking and introductions.
