Itinerary:

The Bartram is one of the major long trails in the Southeast...with about 38 miles in GA and the remaining 78 in NC.  We will break down the GA section, into three hikes...

GA's Bartram Trail

Part 1 - Russell Bridge to Sandy Ford Road

Nearly all of this section is actually part of the Chattooga River Trail as well.   So we should get some nice views along the river.  The terrain is relatively flat with some rolling hills but nothing major.   An added bonus is that Dicks Creek Falls is near the end of this section.

The distance is 9.5 miles and elevation gain will be near negligible for a hike of that length (see elevation profile below)....there are some short small hills in there, but nothing worth really noting.

Because the hike is pretty flat, we will hike at a moderate pace of at least 2.5mph and it should only take about 3 - 4 hrs to complete this section.

This hike requires a car shuttle...distance between points is about 15 miles.  If we have any daylight left after picking up the vehicle left at GA28, we will try to check out a couple of the waterfalls near Three Forks as the trailhead is just about 4 miles away.  So adding that into the hike, it would be about 14 miles total...and bumps this up to a D5
