This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Join me for this training hike and work your climbing legs. We'll start at Tesnatee Gap, hike south on the AT to Blood Mtn, then continue down to Bird Gap and around the mountain on the Freeman Trail before heading back to Tesnatee. Total mileage will be about 17.5 miles with 4500 feet of climbing.

The hike features 15 miles following the white blazes of the Appalachian Trial including tough climbs up Cowrock, Levelland, and Blood mountains. We'll break for lunch with a view on a rock atop Blood Mtn. The Freeman Trail provides an alternate loop route around Blood Mtn so we only have to climb the hard side ;)

Due to the difficulty of the hike you need prior D6 experience or the equivalent.  Average pace should be around 2.7 mph.  Please be sure your comfortable on hikes lasting 7+ hours with some stretches at 3.0+ mph pace . If there are no previous D6 hikes in your profile expect an email to assess your compatibility for the hike.

This hike is marked as exploritory since I've never hiked the Freeman Trail.  The AT portion is of course well traveled.
