Itinerary:

This is a BYOBoat Event (no tubes and no inflatable boats). Join me for a beautiful float on the Metro Chattahoochee.  We leave from Johnson Ferry (mile 311) and take out at Paces Mill (mile 304) with lots of birds, scenery, wildlife and a few (small) rapids along the way. Frequent sightings along this stretch include blue herons, kingfishers, otters, muskrats and such. The first half will be leisurely, and then the river starts to pick up the pace a bit as we pass under I-285.

We'll be on the river from about 8:45 to noon-ish so bring a snack, or lunch.  If the river is high, we may not take as long. Anything goes, but NO GLASS please. Though we won't be in a hurry, we'll keep a nice steady pace throughout. Please note that you must have a PFD and whistle with you on your boat.

Shuttle Plans: We'll meet at Johnson Ferry at 8:00 am to stage our gear. Someone will stay to watch over our boats and belongings.  All drivers will go to Paces Mill and one or two as needed will bring us back to Johnson Ferry.  A $5 (or season, etc.) parking pass is required at either end. You can purchase it that day online, if needed. We'll need at least one or two volunteer drivers who can carry multiple boats to bring back those people, and their boats, to their cars left at the put-in after we finish. I can be one of them since my car can carry two boats.

We may grab lunch somewhere nearby afterwards, for those who'd like to do so, but it is not an official part of the event.

Required Items to Bring:

BYOBoat and paddles (non-inflatable)

CG Approved Personal Floatation Device (PFD) with whistle

$5 dollars for parking, or an annual park pass

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

We are meeting at the put in at Johnson Ferry Rd. and Columns Drive,  Here is the address suggested by Google maps: 135-161 Johnson Ferry Rd SE, Marietta, GA 30068. Note: you should continue through the first parking area towards the back, where the boat ramp is located. You will see signs pointing to the area where you can unload your boat(s).

Please be on time! It takes awhile to unload and drive our cars down to the takeout, etc. so it's important that everyone arrive to the put-in on time and not add to the delay.
