This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Let's go explore the trails around Mason Mill Park and Lullwater Park. The plan this time is to head over to Lullwater and walk along the creek up toward Hahn Woods, then come back and go across the suspension bridge to hike that short loop on the other side. Then we will walk around the lake on the way back to Mason Mill Park. Once there, we'll explore some of the different colored trails through the woods until our time is up.

I'm still labeling this as an exploratory hike even though I am getting much more familiar with the trails in this area. Maybe I'll remove that label the next time I hike here.

We will stay in the woods as much as possible, but we will also be on the boardwalk and concrete/asphalt surfaces sometimes, too.

The pace of this hike will be moderate to fast, and at times, we will need to navigate roots and rocks. Also, if the water level isn't too high, we may cross the creek to hike the Three Creeks Trail loop through Ira B. Melton Park. This crossing involves stepping from one rock to another and will require some balance and dexterity.

Please bring an exploratory attitude. The distance listed for this hike is a bit of an estimate.

There are bathrooms available in Mason Mill Park. Parking is free. We will meet past the Dekalb Tennis Center at the trailhead at the back of the parking lot.

We will be starting the hike promptly at 8:00, so please arrive 10 minutes early for introductions and socializing. Also, the bathrooms are near the playground in the middle of the park, so please allow extra time if you are stopping there.
