Itinerary:

Not your typical early Thanksgiving Day celebratory hike...this is a little bit of an adventure and it gets you home to catch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, football and of course a heaping dose of tryptophan.

We'll be hiking at a true Horhay pace (15-16 min miles)...we'll be starting near the soccer fields at Groveway (see map & GPS), we'll be hitting Hog Wallow, Vickery Creek, and Allenbrook trail networks in varying directions. Of course if you're familiar with the area you'd know we'll have a creek crossing (bring the balancing act, as we trek across a sewer tube) to get over to the Allenbrook side of the trails - where we'll head over to the wall to set up a rappelling line to get down the 75' wall, if you do not have climbing or rap gear, you could borrow some of mine (or walk down the side trail to the base). At minimum I'd like you to have attended one of our "learn" events or climbing events so we know you're skill levels...of course I will be belaying the rappers (fireman-style), but just in case. Our travels will then go SE on the Allenbrook trail to Riverside Rd - where we hop up on the bridge to get back over to the pay lot and back on the VC trails...from there we'll meander around in a serpentine fashion until we get back to the bridge at Oxbo and wrap things up.

This is a fast hike, but I have it listed as an ADVENTURE event since we'll be doing more than just hiking...so be prepared for that "over the creek" crossing on the tube, a bit of rock scrambling and some fast paced hiking...and of course rappelling a 75' ledge. Absolutely not a beginner’s event. AOC Newbies welcome, but I'll probably vet ya if I have never hiked with you.
