No experience necessary for this Learn + Practical Applications event. It will be held in safest conditions possible, all you need is the desire to want to get out there...this is the gateway ;P

Groveway Park is open late and the sun keeps the skies bright until 8p.m. so c'mon out - After work I'll will be hosting an Urban Climbing, Rappelling, Belaying & Knots class on a short, man-made wall. This will give new climbers/rappers an opportunity to test personal gear, test different gear and be safe while doing all of that outdoors. The wall I have recon'ed is only 12' tall at most, and stands at an 80° angle, so we can easily scale, rappel and "self-belay" on this surface.

There's a series of bleachers nearby that we can stage gear, ropes and such so everyone can see different ways to tie in, rappel, and test knot tying skills. I'll have at least 1 rope, 2 ATCs, 1 ATC Pilot, 1 rap ring, 2- prusik loops, 2 harnesses, 1 Swiss Seat/Hasty Harness and of course there's always the world famous South (WEST) Africian set up at the ready.

This will also give ANYONE that is thinking of joining me/us on future climbing and rappelling events a bit of extra time on the lines, so your comfort and confidence are elevated!

SAFETY FIRST! It's only a few feet up...but we'll engage the event as if we're on a 100' slab!

You do not need to have climbing or rappelling knowledge or gear (yet) you'll be fine...c'mon out. If you do and you need a re-fresher...c'mon out.

Event Directions:

We will meet in the far back left part of the lot... across the lot from the tennis/pickle ball courts near the Roswell Adult Rec Center (ARC) - look for the Lil Sasquatch :P then we'll all head over to the proposed "wall."

830 Grimes Bridge Rd., Roswell, GA 30075  #GTS - it will get you close. See GPS link above too

There are restrooms at this location + the lot is paved & well lit.

Notes:

This event will focus more towards the climbing and Belaying aspects - while just touching on Rappelling

it's a small learn event (so we can get a bit of hands on), so sign up ASAP.
