Itinerary:

Please join me for a beautiful early afternoon hike at Sawnee Mountain Preserve.  We will hike the Mountain Side trails only, Ridgeline, Mountainside and then cross over for a figure 8 Hilltop.

We will be hiking at a moderate but steady pace.  If you have hiked D2s in the past and are ready for elevation this is the hike for you.   The mileage is 6.0 but marking hike as a D3 due to the elevation.  The trails do have rocks and roots so poles might be helpful.

NOTE.....If you are looking for a faster fitness hike then this is not the hike for you.

Please arrive a few minutes early to use the restroom and do our introductions as we will be leaving on time.

Dogs are not allowed on these trails.

Sawnee Mountain Preserve is 963 acres and offers 11 miles of wooded trails for walkers, runners and hikers.  Trail options range from easy to difficult.  Along with the trails, Indian Seats and 2 gold mine shafts, the preserve also offers a tree canopy classroom, playground, two picnic pavillions, climbing area, amphitheater and visitors center.  The Visitors Center features interactive exhibits on the natural and cultural histories of Sawnee Mountain and a resource library.

NOTE..... there are 2 parking lots on Bettis Tribble Gap. We are meeting at the newer parking lot at 2505 Bettis Tribble Gap Road which is the larger of the 2 parking lots.
