Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Let's hike the White trail and a little of the Red trail at Sweetwater Creek State Park. The first half of the White trail follows Sweetwater Creek, offering beautiful views of the creek and of the New Manchester mill ruins. The trail then turns away from the creek, following Jack's Branch to Jack's Lake, before continuing through a former farming community. Most of the Red trail is currently closed, but I was just told that about 1/4 mile of it is open, so we will see how far we can go and then turn around.

We will hike at a pace of about 2.5-2.8 mph, so a little faster than moderate. The distance and time posted here are estimates because I'm not sure how things will go on the Red trail.

Please note that Sweetwater Creek requires a $5 Daily Park Pass or an Annual State Park Pass.

Bathrooms are available near the parking lot.

We will meet in the parking lot near the sidewalk to the Interpretive Center.

We will start the hike promptly at 8:30am, so please arrive early to meet everyone before the hike. Also, please allow extra time if you need to purchase a parking pass or use the bathroom.
