Itinerary:

Please come join me at Gold Branch for 90 minutes of hiking after work. The plan is to cover around 4 miles in 90 minutes which is about a 2.7 mph moving pace. However depending on the group it could be a little more or less because we will adjust things to take up the full time. My preference is to keep up a steady pace without a bunch of breaks other than to look at some of the more scenic spots.

We will be pushing back the start time by a few minutes each week to keep us finishing 30 minutes after the official sunset time which is the latest that you are allowed to be in the park. Due to this we will not be able to wait for anyone running late and will start exactly on time or potentially a few minutes earlier if everyone is there and ready. It will be dark for the last 5 - 10 minutes of the event. Please bring a light of some kind, a flashlight or headlamp are best but even a cellphone could work.

The hike follows along the water's edge for roughly half the event and up and down some interior hills for the rest of the event. There are a few steeper hills and some rocky and rooty sections along the way which might be difficult if you are a beginner.

Parking is $5 if you do not already have a pass(Chattahoochee or America the Beautiful). Info can be found here https ://www.nps.gov/chat/planyourvisit/fees.htm . They no longer take cash and you will need internet on your phone to pay.

Unfortunately like at many trailheads there have been issues with break-ins. If possible do not leave valuables in your car. If you must keep them in your car make sure they are out of site before you get to the trailhead. Do not wait until you arrive to hide your stuff.
