Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Let's go explore Piedmont Park. We will walk around places such as the Meadow, Lake Clara Meer, Oak Hill, the Active Oval, the Mayor's Grove, Six Springs Wetlands, and the Promenade. I didn't even know the names of most of these areas of the park until I looked at the website. https://piedmontpark.org/

We will peek through the fence at the beautiful Atlanta Botanical Garden, and we will also walk on the recently finished part of the beltline over by Ansley Mall.

We will have a mix of sun and shade, so I would recommend wearing sunscreen and bringing a hat.

I've been to the park many times but have only explored it as an AOC hike once before, so that's why this is marked as exploratory. The time and distance are an estimate.

Please arrive about 10 minutes early for socializing and introductions because we will be starting on time.

There are no bathrooms where we are parking, but there are some in the park.

We will meet near the corner of 10th Street and Monroe Drive at the entrance to the Eastside Beltline. This is across the street from Park Tavern and the SE corner of Piedmont Park.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

We will meet near the corner of 10th Street and Monroe Drive at the entrance to the Eastside Beltline. This is across the street from Park Tavern and the SE corner of Piedmont Park.

I am planning to park on the curb in front of the Virginia Highlands Apartment Homes at 609 Virginia Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30306. I'm not sure how crowded it will be, so I'll park farther from the park on Virginia Ave, if needed.

There is a paid parking lot next to the Park Tavern restaurant at the corner of 10th and Monroe, and there is other street parking available in the area. If you park on the street, be sure to check the signs and make sure parking is allowed there. Do not park at Trader Joe's or other businesses around because you can get booted, and that is expensive.
