Itinerary:

Join us for a hike around Stone Mountain (not to the top of the mountain). We will start on one of the connecting trails, which will take us to the Nature Center Trail and then the Cherokee Trail. There are many sections that are uneven due to rocks and roots, several stream crossings, and some gentle ascents. This is not a fitness or training hike, but we will maintain a moderate pace (2.6 to 2.8 mph) on most of the trail, slowing down on rougher sections with one or two short pauses for hydration.

We will meet at the base of the walk-up trail, which is behind the Historical & Environmental Education Center (formerly Confederate Hall) and near the restrooms.  Please arrive by 8:50 so we can do introductions and start promptly at 9:00.

You will need a Stone Mountain Park pass ($20 one-time or $40 for an annual pass). I’m told it’s possible to park at a lot in Stone Mountain village and walk into the park, but I don’t know the specifics or how long it takes to walk from the lot to our meeting place.
