We will enjoy the early morning cool hours near the river with a peaceful but quick walk.

This hike is markedly different from the nearby Mulberry Creek hike in that there will be no creek crossings and the entire hike is without hills.

We will begin the hike at the paved parking area near the Johnson Ferry Bridge. From there we walk to the gravel lot and boat ramp for a quick stop at the restroom and water fountains. As we make our way, I may point out some gatherings of goldfinches that have been frequenting some open areas near the river.   This is going to be a pace that is better than 3 mph. On the return route, we will set the goal of one sub 15-minute mile. For that mile, I'll be running for several short intervals. Each person can set their own pace and if they choose, are encouraged to walk the entire mile. We will regroup at the end of this mile. Those who reach the concrete bridge first will turn around and backtrack until they meet up with the rest of the group. Once gathered again near the concrete bridge, we will resume walking at our 3-plus mph pace.
